Evening Views 1

This, and the next two posts were images taken one evening at the beginning of February. We had had a cold, sunny day and as the sun went down it cast a beautiful light over the city, and then the clouds rolled in to form an inversion around the downtown core.
View across downtown and the corner of Stanley Park. Cloud is enveloping the high-rise buildings. The mountains in the horizon are on Vancouver Island.

This close image shows the cloud surrounding Stanley Park in the middle of the photo and Pacific Spirit Park and UBC just beyond. This side of Stanley Park you can see one of the turrets of the Lions Gate Bridge poking up above the cloud.

Evening Views 2

This is a view of Mount Baker, the normally white snowy top coloured pink in the setting sun.

Evening Views 3

A view towards the Second Narrows Bridge, which is busy during the rush-hour. The high-rise buildings visible on the horizon are Metrotown - a suburb city complex comprising a huge shopping mall, two multiscreen cinemas, offices, apartments and so on.

Happy Valentines

OK so we are a bit late to offer Valentine greetings to you all but we have had issues with our internet connection not to mention just enjoying yet another holiday genre. Yes Valentines is bigger here than we recall in the UK. They even exchange cards in pre-school!!!

As with any special day Canadians need no excuse to celebrate or at least capitalise on the Day for Lovers. When in Rome.......

Again it is done quite well & not expensive. For $20 we enjoyed a tray of delicious giant Chocolate covered strawberries. Yum Yum!
